Guided Access for children and special purposes

Guided Access is an IOS feature that limits the functions of the device either for children, adults with limited capabilities, or iPad Kiosk mode where it just displays one app for display purposes. The iPad or iPhone is 'locked down' allowing the user to only control certain functions.

Once set up, it is activated by triple clicking the Home button Exiting Guided Access requires the pass-code (or Touch).

Guided Access is one of a wide range of helpful controls found in Settings/General/Accessibility. Switch on Guided Access and you are prompted to provide a pass-code. Then there are a range of options that can be enabled, as shown on the image.

It works with one app only at a time. For a child setting, use may be limited by time or simply by limiting access to this one app. For users with limited capacity to control the device, options can be limited to little or none. A powerful feature is that sections of the screen can be barred from use from the user. It is very useful for people with disabilities who would otherwise not be able to use an iPad of iPhone.
