Gboard, a better keyboard?

1  Gboard is Google's 'slide' keyboard that is gaining a lot of users. It's main feature is that tapping is replaced by sliding one's finger from letter to letter. There is very good predictive text and most people find it it quicker than tapping.

In the above case I went e-n-v-i-r and the predictive suggestions above the keyboard are environment, environmental, environments. I have found that you don't have to be very accurate after the first letter. It is very intelligent and looks for words that fit the context. Proper nouns usually need to be tap-typed. 

2 There are other features such as being able to look for a web address in the middle of typing an email and the link is inserted into the email. You don't have to jump to the browser and come back to the email. Just tap the G logo and do the search. 

3 Another valuable feature of Gboard is that the space bar acts like a touch pad and by sliding your finger along the space bar you move the cursor along a text line: a lot quicker than using the magnifying glass touch feature.

You get Gboard from the App store and it explains how to go to Settings and add it to your keyboards. Once it is installed you can jump between keyboards as you see fit. Gboard does not have the microphone for dictation. 

Once installed, keyboards are selected from the globe icon below the letter Z. Very quick.
