AirPods are bluetooth* [wireless] ear-buds from Apple. The Airpods fits quite firmly into an ear and they stop playing when one is removed. The case is also a battery which recharges them in less than 15 min. The AirPods switch very easily from iPhone to iPad to any other bluetooth enabled device, making listening to music, podcasts or watching a movie a lot more convenient, not being encumbered by a chord. I have used mine for several months now and love them dearly. Great for watching an iPad video while cooking, listening to a podcast while being active. Have never gone close to them running out of battery.
Double tapping an Airpod switches play on or off, or can be used to activate Siri who will follow verbal instructions.
*Bluetooth is a short range wireless system allowing peripheral devices like speakers, earbuds, handsets, keyboards etc to connect to other devices.
